Senior right-hand pitcher Charley Sullivan (1-1) threw a complete game, three-hitter for Alabama, as the Crimson Tide cruised to a 12-1 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers to open Southeastern Conference play on Friday night from Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the win, Alabama improves to 10-8 overall and 1-0 in SEC play, while Tennessee falls to 9-8 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

The Tennessee Volunteers cruised to a 69-53 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Thursday in the second round of the SEC tournament. It was a ho-hum win over a terrible team, but junior guard Jordan McRae tried to liven things up with a spectacular 360 dunk off a breakaway late in the second half. Alabama gave up a 10-point lead in the second half as Florida went on a 15-0 run to beat the Crimson Tide 61-51, ending their shot at a conference title and maybe even the NCAA and NIT tournaments.
On Saturday, Alabama’s football team returned to the practice field for the first time since the Crimson Tide won the 2012 national championship and Crimson Tide Coach Nick Saban seemed to be generally pleased.
