Stan Jennings took over on Albany State's final possession, scoring from 12 yards out with 26 seconds to play in a 37-34 win over Savannah State on Saturday in the season opener for both teams. The Division II Rams took over with 45 seconds to go in the game from their own 37 and went to the air. Jennings threw a 14-yard pass to Mark Bell and followed with a 37-yard pass to Octavius Stanton. After two incompletions by Jennings, he rushed for his second score of the night. Jennings, who finished with 240 yards on 16 of 35 passing and 25 yards on seven carries, threw a 20-yard touchdown to Ronnie Tubbs for a 7-0 Rams' lead in the first quarter. Savannah State led in the fourth quarter at 27-22 on Alfred Defilippis' 64-yard pass to Brian Lackey, and again at 34-30 on Defilippis' 25-yard TD to Dylan Cook.
