It appears as though Ales Kotalik is packing his bags and leaving oil-rich Edmonton. Kotalik, the latest on a short list of acquisitions by the New York Rangers, has been signed to a three-year contract worth $9 million, as reported by multiple sources.
While this isn't exactly the player the Rangers were looking for, the right winger has had relatively good success, specifically in 2005-06 when he had his career high in goals (25), assists (37), and points (62) on the Buffalo Sabres.
In the season following he had a 71.5 percent success rate in the shootout and was tied for the second most shootout-winning goals in the league. Kotalik was sent from Buffalo to the Oilers on March 4, 2009 in exchange for a second round draft pick in the 2009 NHL entry draft.
