Alex Gonzalez has been activated and will start at shortstop this afternoon when the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs begin their weekend series.
Gonzalez has been on the disabled list since June 20 because of bone chips in his right elbow. He had surgery to remove the fragments and is evidently ready to go.
Today's game is scheduled for 2:20 PM Eastern time at Wrigley Field. Aaron Harang (5-10, 4.17) will oppose Randy Wells (5-4, 3.00).
