Have the "Angels in the Outfield" relocated to the east?
The Arizona Diamondbacks are one of the surprises in baseball this season, sitting tied with the reigning World Series champion Giants atop the NL West at 28-22 after Sunday's 6-5 win over San Diego.
The product of a little divine intervention, perhaps? Well, once you see this photo, don't you have to at least give it a little thought?
This photo was taken Sunday. This is the caption written by The Associated Press:
Caught in a beam of sunlight, an Arizona Diamondbacks Gerardo Parra fan holds up a sign as he bats against the San Diego Padres in the eighth inning of a baseball game, Sunday, May 26, 2013, in Phoenix.
An angelic mystery befitting "The Da Vinci Code" series? Let's just say we're not arguing with the D-backs' success.

HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS
Diamondbacks pitcher Ian Kennedy was scratched from his Sunday start after injuring his finger while doing the dishes. Yes, really.
The Diamondbacks' media relations reps, Patrick O'Connell and Casey Wilcox, recently handed out a lined sheet of paper to every player on the team with a very simple request: a list of songs to add to the stadium mix for during batting practice. Straightforward and innocuous enough, right?
Well, nothing is innocuous in the hands of pitcher Brandon McCarthy, who's known...
PHOENIX -- As injuries go, it is not particularly threatening. The explanation probably hurt more. Diamondbacks starter Ian Kennedy suffered a small laceration on his right index finger when he cut it on a serrated knife blade while doing the dishes Thursday.
But it will force him to miss his scheduled start in the doubleheader against the Rangers on Monday -- the D-backs will...
PHOENIX -- It may be too early to bring it up, but what the heck. Halfway to the All-Star Game, Diamondbacks left-hander Patrick Corbin is as good a candidate as any to start for the National League. He has been that good.
Thats a no-brainer, catcher Miguel Montero said of an All-Star invitation.
Hes going to go. I know it is still a long way to go, but hes getting better.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have scratched right-handed
starting pitcher Ian Kennedy from today’s start due to a lacerated finger on
his throwing hand, pushing his next appearance back to Friday, according to
Tyler Emerick of MLB.com.
Kennedy suffered the injury while doing the dishes;
specifically while cleaning a knife.

PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks could not have been more encouraged with the outcome of rookie Tyler Skaggs emergency start against Texas on Monday: Six shutout innings that served to accentuate their quality pitch depth. Most instructive was the poise Skaggs showed at the outset.Texas leadoff hitter Elvis Andrus singled on the fourth pitch and took second on the seventh, a wild pitch...
Didi Gregorius hit a tying homer off Yu Darvish in the eighth inning, Cliff Pennington singled home the winning run in the ninth and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Texas Rangers 5-4 Monday night for a doubleheader sweep.
Darvish matched his career best with 14 strikeouts but allowed a run after the sixth inning for the first time this season. Gregorius also had an RBI triple...
Heath Bell tried his little heart out to get to a very slow grounder hit by Will Venable on Friday night, but he fell a bot short. Check out the replay which made me laugh for a good few minutes straight. Good game, good effort.

Ian Kennedy cut his finger recently while washing dishes. As a result, Tyler Skaggs got the start in the early game of Monday’s Memorial Day twinbill against the Rangers, and he acquitted himself quite well. The start threw into sharp relief just how necessary Kennedy is to the Dbacks plans, both current and future. As we move further away from his breakout season, it is fair to...
Brandon McCarthy has self-awareness rarely seen from a professional athlete.
While filling out a sheet with the instructions “Please write down some songs you would like to hear during batting practice,” McCarthy showed off his ever-present sense of humor. Some of the best “songs” he listed were “Kottonmouth Kings’ cover of Angel by Sarah McLachlan,” “Ying Yang Twins...
The former Diamondback was one of the 10 Padres runners to score. (Matt York, AP)
The Padres continue to be a thorn in the side of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
One night after it appeared Arizona have exercised their demons, San Diego put a beat down on the Snakes, as they defeated Arizona 10-4 on Saturday night.
Wade Miley for second time in his last three starts gave up at least six...
PHOENIX (AP) -- Tyler Skaggs, just called up from the minors, struck out nine in six scoreless innings and the Arizona Diamondbacks held on to beat the Texas Rangers 5-3 in the opener of a doubleheader on Monday.
Skaggs (1-0), who lost out to Patrick Corbin for Arizona's fifth starting spot in the spring, was recalled from Triple-A Reno after scheduled starter Ian Kennedy cut...
Ever wondered who helps program the music at the stadium?
Thankfully for the Arizona Diamondbacks, they've got Brandon McCarthy to help out. When asked for suggestions, the righty responded with the following:
Jingle Bells - Bobcat Goldthwait does Christmas
Anything by John Philip Sousa
A six minute recording of Cahill breathing through...
The Texas Rangers have lost a season-high three straight and now must face a red-hot Brandon McCarthy.
McCarthy has been stellar over his last three outings for the Arizona Diamondbacks heading into Wednesday night's matchup in Arlington.
Texas (32-20) was swept Monday in a doubleheader at Arizona after falling 4-3 in 13 innings at Seattle on Sunday.
"(Sunday) we had...
