A survey conducted by the Associated Press of Baseball Writers who have a Hall of Fame vote (and were willing to participate) show Barry Bonds at 45 percent, Roger Clemens at 43 percent and Sammy Sosa at 18 percent. Whether this is what their final tallies is yet to be determined, but the venom of which those who were quoted had against the PED era players has to be noted.

Washington Examiner columnist, Thom Loverro does not begrudge the statistical landmarks of the aforementioned three but stated that “three of the six criteria for election to Cooperstown are sportsmanship, integrity and character and that Bonds, Sosa and Clemens fail on all three counts”. Troy Renck of the Denver Post stated that he would “feel very uncomfortable voting for anyone that is a known cheater”. MLB.com’s Hal Bodley said his passion for the game could never allow known cheaters to the Hall.

  • They should be put of the Hall, everyone of them is an absolute disgrace. Liars and cheaters, that's all they are. They all disgust me.
  • Again, we all know that the sports writers are an honorable group. Why are they not subjected to the same degree of intense observation, drug testing, friend vetting and financial forensics as the athletes they judge?
Why?, Because it does not matter. Pete Rose was banned from baseball and hall of fame becuase (OMG) he bet on baseball games! Stop the pressess and close all the casinos. After all those are legitimate uses of our integrity. Hence, that lying, narcisstic, sack of manure Curt Schilling gets voted in the hall on first ballot. All Curt does is remind everyone how stupid they are and how smart he is. Now all he did was steal $78 million from the State of RI, Embarrass the Governor, stiffed many small businesses and put a couple of hundred people out of work. Why should thay prevent the turd from being voted into the hall? Did the Red Sox do a blood test to make sure good ol boy Curt did not have banned substances in his system while his boo-boo ankle spotted a little blood on a sock. They did test the stain on the sock to determine it was blood didn't they? The wife and kids have been kept silenced and no investigative reporter asked the mrs. Did Curt tell you what was going on?
And yet curt was asked to guest on talk shows, (to show his political acumen was down to the same level as his business skills.) He may become a sportscaster. Wouldn't it be great for the demi-god to comment on athleties performance and trevails while thinking... I still got it!
  • They are all CHEATERS that have purposely damaged the record books for their own gain, and in the process replaced some of the legends of the game of baseball. They DO NOT belong in the HOF now or ever, PERIOD!
As for Charlie Hustle, he played the game as it should be played, and alot better than most, HOF better. He bet on his team (the Reds) as a manager, not a player, and it was always to win. The only one Mr. Rose hurt was himself. (and his wallet) He CHEATED no one out of the record books as the others have done. Baseball has kept the hits record holder out of the Hall for long enough.
  • Bonds and Clemens should have been a lock for thHOF, until they chose MONEY over true talent. Bonds was a fabulous player (hit, but not HR one, run, and throw player, one of the best ever) But not the fame that the fans give to homerun hitters. His ego dominated his decision to use drugs to be one! Clemens has always been an arrogant ass and liar, (he could do and say anything). Remember when his reason for being late for spring training was worked with the Texas Dept of Justice, pitching to the prison team, LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
