Our search for America's Next Top Jets Kvetch Writers continues with two new submissions and one new...other...thing. Give them a read, as well as our previous entry, and leave whatever feedback you can in the comments section below. Here's the first of our two sample posts, a great piece on the surprising pickup of former Raven Trevor Pryce yesterday by Joey G. of Virginia. Joey appears to dip into the AP Stylebook here, if only a little, which I believe marks the first instance of anything approaching professionalism that has ever been witnessed here. I....am impressed. THE PRYCE IS RIGHT Rex Ryan stole one from his former team, the Baltimore Ravens. On Wednesday, the Ravens released veteran DE Trevor Pryce, with the stated goal of re-signing him later in the week or perhaps next week. They were juggling their roster and wanted to make room for S Ken Hamlin. But the New York Jets, short on defensive linemen, swooped in and ruined the Ravens' plan. The Jets reportedly have signed Pryce, who will be reunited with Ryan, a former Ravens defensive coordinator. The Ravens can't be happy with Ryan, but Pryce was fair game. Because he's a veteran, he wasn't exposed to waivers. He was a free agent, and the Jets grabbed him. Smart move by the Jets. Pryce isn't the double-digit sacker he was early in his career, he has produced little this season, but the Jets have been hit hard by injuries on the line. NT Kris Jenkins is out for the season with a torn ACL, and promising backup DE Ropati Pitoitua tore an Achilles' tendon in the preseason. The Jets were down to Shaun Ellis, Mike DeVito and Vernon Gholston at end. The Pryce move could allow Gholston to concentrate on outside linebacker, where he might be needed due to injuries to Calvin Pace (foot) and Jamaal Westerman (ankle). Pryce is an old warhorse, familiar with Ryan's system. The Jets are aquiring a lot of salty veterans, but they're in a win-now mode and this move makes sense. In week 4, the Jets head over to Buffalo, in hopes to take absolute dominance in the AFC East. The Jets are on a roll now, Mark Sanchez is starting to look like the leader he was meant to be, and with hopes high, why shouldn't we win? Trap game? You can say whatever you want. Hopes are high for the Jets early in the season and it looks like our Jets are playing like New York Jets. Rex Ryan said on Hard Knocks that he "wanted to lead the league in wins", and with a win in Buffalo in week 4, this can give the Jets a huge confidence boost. Are we the team to beat in the AFC East? Only this match-up in Buffalo can tell.
