Andre Ethier is having a tough time getting a long term contract in Los Angeles, and his recent comments suggest his time is running short for the Dodgers. I can’t see the Dodgers resigning him, Matt Kemp, and Clayton Kershaw to long term deals with the money issues they have.
This means that when Ethier hits the market, I believe the Chicago Cubs will be HOT on his trail. I don’t think the Cubs are convinced Tyler Colvin is going to be the player they hope, and Ethier is a really good left handed hitter. They aren’t going to have the money to go after Prince Fielder or Albert Pujols, so Ethier could be one heck of a back up plan.
Would he be a good fit though? A lot of sabr fanatics out there will be like “no! His ISO is down! His power is down! He’s not going to return to his hard hitting ways” blah blah blah blah.
