The Houston Astros claimed outfielder Jason Bourgeois off waivers Monday from the Milwaukee Brewers.
Bourgeois, 27, spent most of the season at Class AAA Nashville, where he batted .316 with 18 doubles, six triples, two homers and 41 RBI in 105 games.
Bourgeois was called up by the Brewers on Aug. 12 to fill the roster spot created when third baseman Bill Hall was released. He appeared in 24 games, including six starts in right field, and batted .189 with one homer and three RBI. He was 2-for-14 as a pinch-hitter.
