Last night the world witnessed an historic election in which the 44th President of the United States was re-elected to a second term. Like the rest of us, many athletes watched at home and participated in the popular conversations happening on Twitter.

Anyone who follows professional athletes on Twitter can tell you that many support the POTUS and were pulling for a second term, although not all were. Below are some of the best athlete Tweets of the night.

Well what a gracious Tweet by Braylon Edwards, wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks. Other athletes reveled in Obama’s victory as well including Roddy White:

Obama Reportedly Shatters Retweet Record With This One Simple Pic
President Obama won a couple of things last night, you can choose which is more impressive. I am going to go with the fact that he landed another four years, but some (actually no one) may argue that Obama smashing the retweet record last night was damn impressive. Mashable, BuzzFeed and Mediabistro reported that Obama’s victory tweet gets the “all-time” distinction for...
Heat say lack of height is no big obstacle
MIAMI LeBron James had plenty of critics to drive him last season on the way to his first championship. With many of the skeptics having gone on vacation, the general belief is James will have to rely mostly on self motivation to win another.
Then again, maybe not. The Miami small forwards dander has been raised.
With there still being some concern over how the Heats small ball...
Skip Bayless wrote 4247 words of hot garbage on LeBron James
Skip Bayless will soon appear on Awful Announcing's Mount Rushmore to commemorate his "visceral unctousness" as Erik Malinowski so expertly put it in this guest column. For Bayless to gain almost 50% of Tuesday's vote against the likes of Chris Berman, Craig James (yes, that Craig James), and Matt Millen is a testament to his unique brand of corrupted punditry...
Bloopers from LeBron James and Dwight Howard
Two of the best players in the NBA had embarrassing bloopers last night.
Although the Miami Heat crushed the Brooklyn Nets and LeBron James had a monster game; I am sure his teammates got on him for his missed dunk attempt.
The Lakers are 1-4 but more embarrassing last night was Dwight Howard’s free throw. He air balled it. How do you shoot an air ball when you are a pro and have...
Rajon Rondo says he can beat LeBron James in a race
Okay. There is quite a bit more to this story but I love when Rajon Rondo talks trash, especially agains The Boston Celtics point guard sat down with Mut and Merloni of WEEI and discussed a variety of topics. Rondo talked about the Celtics slow start and the new guys getting acclimated. Rondo also discusses his [...]
Jose Canseco...Not a Barack Obama Fan
It wasn't long after Barack Obama was declared the winner Tuesday night that Twitter really, really exploded.Naturally, the baseball world's favorite Twitterer, Jose Canseco, spoke his mind as well. Suffice it to say, it might be fair to say that the embattled slugger might be a Mitt Romney fan.
Doc Rivers Went to See ‘Argo’ Instead of Watching Election Results, Left Before Seeing End of Movie
BOSTON — As far as president elections go, Tuesday was rather anticlimactic. President Barack Obama was re-elected by a 97-vote margin in the electoral college and most major networks declared Obama the winner by around 11:30 p.m.
Even that was too nerve-wracking for Celtics coach Doc Rivers. The unabashed Obama supporter had to flee to a dark movie theater to watch Argo in order...

LeBron, Wade lead Heat past Suns
LeBron James had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Dwyane Wade scored 22 points and the Miami Heat beat the Phoenix Suns 124-99 on Monday night.
Chris Bosh finished with 18 points and Ray Allen had 15 for Miami (3-1), which is averaging 111.8 points to open the season. Allen became the 24th player in NBA history to eclipse the 23,000-point mark when he made a free throw with 1:01 left...
With Leather’s Watch This: Not The Election
I don’t mean to imply that we couldn’t watch any sports last night. For instance, I watched the Orlando Magic at the Chicago Bulls last night. But since Barack Obama had to be such a winner and whatever last night, the Bulls had to ruin that game for me, too. I mean, Joakim Noah was knocking down jumpers and Carlos Boozer looked like he had an actual pulse. My point is that everyone...
LeBron, Wade overwhelm Nets
Dwyane Wade scored 22 points on 10 for 14 shooting, LeBron James finished two assists shy of a triple-double and the Miami Heat improved to 4-0 at home for the first time in franchise history by beating the Brooklyn Nets 103-73 on Wednesday night.
James had 20 points and 12 rebounds in only 30 minutes, and Rashard Lewis scored 13 points for the Heat (4-1). Miami - which plays its...
Brooklyn Nets get Cold Crushed by 30 Thanks to Miami Heat Tandem
The Brooklyn Nets knew it was going to be a long night when their first possession led to a steal by Chris Bosh, and ended with an alley-oop to LeBron James. You can’t allow Miami to sprint in the open floor; it’s a recipe for disaster.
What was only a nine-point deficit going into halftime for the Nets, exploded like a Steven Seagal homemade bomb in a dismal second half.
At...
Suns blasted by hot-shooting Heat
MIAMI (AP) -- Offensive numbers to savor were everywhere for the Miami Heat on Monday night.
They thanked an upgraded defensive effort for that.
LeBron James had 23 points and 11 rebounds, Dwyane Wade scored 22 points and the Heat beat the Phoenix Suns 124-99 on Monday night. Chris Bosh finished with 18 points, Ray Allen had 15 and Mario Chalmers finished with his second 11-assist...
Heat-Hawks Preview
While the Miami Heat are known for their offensive prowess, they're proving mighty stingy on the defensive end, too.
The Atlanta Hawks know all too well how hard it can be to generate offense against the defending NBA champions.
Seeking a fourth consecutive win overall, the Heat try for a sixth straight road victory over the Hawks on Friday night.
The Heat (4-1) are coming...
