Remember back on Friday night when the Phillies pounded the Mets to the tune of 13 runs? Remember all those hits and homers? Ah, memories…
Now back to reality…and reality has hit the Phillies hard this weekend as they dropped 2 games out of 3 to the Mets. Saturday’s game was winnable, but Cole Hamels floundered again and the offense blew many opportunities. Sunday’s game was an utter disaster that marked the Phillies 7th time being shut-out this year.
Pitcher Cliff Lee was, once again, killed by the long ball. The 5 Mets’ runs came off 2 homers and both were hit with 2 outs in the inning. With All-Star game starter Matt Harvey on the mound for the Mets, Lee did not stand a chance unless he controlled the long ball, which he did not.
The Phillies offense was just as awful; they managed only 3 hits off Harvey and piled up 12 strikeouts. Domonic Brown got the Golden Sombrero with 4 K’s in the game. Was it not just 2 days ago this team scored 13 runs? After their performance on Sunday, ...
BEST OF MAXIM
Matt Harvey vs. Domonic Brown is a battle that we could see for the next 10 years as they are the future stars of their respective teams.
Of course if the early results are any indication of what is to come, Phillies fans wont be happy with what they see.
Brown on Sunday faced Harvey three times and each time was a victim of a strikeout. Overall in his career he is 0-10 with 7 K’s...
Click here to view the video on YouTube. For this week I have chosen to take the video of the week in a bit of a different direction. Recently a fellow writer on Taking Bad Schotz, Seth Goldberg, told me about a video of Matt Harvey on Jimmy Fallon. It did not disappoint and it’s easily one of my favorite segments on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon that I have ever seen. The reaction...
This afternoon New York Mets ace Matt Harvey, dominated the Philadelphia Phillies once again. Harvey’s final stat line was 7 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs and 10k’s. This was the 4th time this season Harvey has pitched at least 7 innings with 10k’s and no walks.
Rich MacLeod (@RichMacleod) created a fantastic GIF of Harvey that we needed to share. It’s Harvey recording swings and...
HARVEY DAZZLES AGAIN!!!
On the strength of a scintillating performance by ace Matt Harvey backed by three home runs, the Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 5-0 this afternoon at a sun-drenched Citi Field.
Harvey dominated the Phillies all day and held them to just three hits and never letting a batter advance past second base. His fastball hit triple digits on a...
The New York Mets won the games pitched by Zack Wheeler and Matt Harvey over the weekend, but their performances illustrated the gap between the two, and still the need for improvement of each.
Let’s look first at Wheeler, who is here to stay. He’s taken his lumps and will take some more. Wheeler’s problem remains command of all his pitches, beginning with the fastball that...
This hot Sunday afternoon will feature a matchup of two all-star hurlers as Cliff Lee and Matt Harvey close out the three game series at Citi Field. The series is currently split and the Phillies hope for a series split to keep them with a winning record. The Mets are...the...
Matt Harvey struck out 10 in seven overpowering innings, and David Wright and Juan Lagares each hit a home run upheld by video review to lead the New York Mets to a 5-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.
Marlon Byrd followed Wright's first-inning homer off the dark metal railing atop the new left-field wall with a no-doubter into the second deck against Cliff...
15 hits, 13 runs...that's what it took for the Phillies to win their 49th game of the season and get a head start on the second half of the season. Although Kyle Kendrick surrendered six earned runs through 5 2/3 innings his offense gave him enough run support to give...

The New York Mets are playing some pretty good baseball of late. Matt Harvey is the best thing since sliced bread, Juan Lagares was just named NL Player of the Week, and they are now within 10 games of the division leading Atlanta Braves.
So the Mets are feeling pretty good about themselves. Good enough to poke fun at their crosstown rivals with a subtle poke at the injury-riddled...
Mets hope to get a better pitching performance today from Wheeler while they look to hang another loss on old pal Hamels. Game time is 1:10 PM.

Update from âlast week:
Some people think Chris Davis might be cursed from the homerun derby, but that is purely a myth. He should continue to “crush” balls into the upper deck for the rest of the year.
Matt Harvey was dominant on Sunday. Seven shutout innings, three hits, ten strike-outs and no walks. Owners don’t need to worry about Harvey breaking down, but they...
Zack Wheeler day was a bust.
The other phenom in the Mets’ rotation didn’t remind anyone of Matt Harvey, but the bullpen bailed him out in a 5-4 win over the Phillies at Citi Field on Saturday.
Wheeler needed one more out to be in line for the win, but couldn’t get it. With a two-run lead, he left with the bases loaded and two out in the fifth, when Terry Collins came out...
