Ball State incoming freshman Markus Burden hasn’t even started his first semester as a college student but that hasn’t stopped him from already establishing himself as a legend around campus. During the school’s “Welcome Week” for incoming students, Burden buried his fourth and final attempt at a half-court shot to win free tuition for a semester.
It’s undoubtedly the most valuable shot he’s ever hit, seeing as how that half-year tuition is worth roughly $11,084.
Welcome to college, kid.

BEST OF MAXIM
Freshman Markus Burden, who will be attending Ball State for presumably the next four years, made his life a little easier financially by nailing a half-court shot this past week. Burden was selected randomly from the crowd to have the opportunity to hit the half-court shot and he took advantage by making his 4th attempt at the prize. Not sure why he got 4 attempts, but I digress…...
Freshman Markus Burden won’t have to pay for his spring semester (valued at over $11K) at Ball State, thanks to his halfcourt miracle shot below. According to the Star Press, Burden was chosen at random by the school during a Thursday night Welcome Week activity at Worthen Arena.
The shot and celebration are worth watching multiple times:
On Thursday, Ball State freshman Markus Burden hit a halfcourt shot and won free tuition for one semester. One report says that he will receive $11,000, while the Ball State website says that tuition is $7,000-8,000 for in-state tuition. Pretty great way to start off your first week of school.
