Seeking reinforcement for the offensive line, the Chicago Bears promoted offensive tackle Cory Brandon from their practice squad to their active roster. Benched right tackle Gabe Carimi recently filled in at right guard, but he moved back to his original position during Sunday's loss to the Packers when starter Jonathan Scott suffered a hamstring injury. Brandon spent the preseason with the Bears, and he's been part of the practice squad for nine weeks. He was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma. To create a roster spot for Brandon, the Bears moved defensive tackle Matt Toeaina onto injured reserve. Toeaina might need arthroscopic knee surgery, ESPNChicago.com reported. He played just three games this season, starting twice, and he was credited with four tackles. Now in his sixth season out of Oregon, Toeaina started 12 games for the Bears last year and 10 in 2010.
