They started throwing punches in this series in the 1920s and it has seen everything from William “The Refrigerator” Perry to Brett Favre beating the Bears in a driving ice storm on Halloween Night at Soldier Field when Chicago retired the jersey numbers of Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus. Coach Mike Ditka’s teams dominated the 1980s in this series much like Favre’s teams dominated former coach Dave Wannstedt’s Bears.
