Last night Vermont announced that assistant John Becker will be the interim head coach for the basketball program. There is no timetable for when a full time coach will be announced. Becker is considered a candidate for the head coaching position.
A very smart move by the Catamounts. This will hopefully preserve the recruiting class and give fans some confidence over the summer. It allows many things to stay "the same" and allow for a national search to take place.
While former assistant Hajj Turner is out of the running (going w/ Lonergan to GW), one name being mentioned is DIII Middlebury coach Jeff Brown. When you go 28-2, lead your team to a Final Four and are a graduate a member of the Catamount Hall of Fame, should you be surprised your name is mentioned?
