I was just joking with the Mike's (Saver and Dyer) today that the Celtics should hire Scal to coach. Apparently the thought at least crossed Danny Ainge's mind as well as he had informal conversations with the former Celtic. Before securing Stevens' interest and commitment to Boston's head-coaching job, Ainge talked informally about the position with popular former Celtic Brian Scalabrine, sources told Y! Sports. Ainge believes Scalabrine — who is strongly considering an assistant coaching job with the Golden State Warriors — has a future in coaching and talked in broad terms about the job with him, sources said. Nothing ever advanced to a formalized interview, though. It must be asked now why is Scal going for the Warriors position? Why not join Stevens' staff in Boston? Seems like the obvious fit. A couple other tidbits from the Woj article are that Jay Larranaga will now have to decide whether he wants to stay in Boston and join Stevens' staff or go to L....

The Boston Celtics shouldn’t rush into any more trades

Celtics GM Danny Ainge spoke to the media today, and said that he has no intention of trading Rajon Rondo, Jeff Green, or Avery Bradley.  Whether or not Ainge means what he says is clearly up for debate; but if it’s true I believe he’s finally got his head in the right place.  I thought Ainge was way too quick to let Doc Rivers leave, and also jumped the gun on dealing away...

WALTHAM, Mass. — When the Celtics announced via news release on Wednesday that they had hired Brad Stevens as their head coach, half the basketball-watching world was stunned by the hire. Rajon Rondo: The Celtics’ sudden unknown

I am, for the sake of the next thousand words or so, going to take Danny Ainge at his word and assume Rajon Rondo will be back next season. There’s no way, though, to know exactly what Rajon Rondo we’ll see whenever he does return. We can have whatever debates we want about Rondo.  To some, he is an enigmatic genius whose on-court prescience and mastery of angles make him a uniquely...
