Alabama scored six offensive touchdowns in the 49-0 shutout of Western Carolina on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Cornerback Deion Belue retrieved a backwards pass ruled a fumble and carried the ball for a 57-yard touchdown to widen the gap to 42-0 right before halftime. The second quarter score was the third non-offensive touchdown of the year and first fumble return for six points.

Seven Tide Players Earn Weekly Honors

Each week the Alabama coaching staff selects players of the week from the previous game. The Crimson Tide had a relatively easy time of it last Saturday with a 49-0 win over Western Carolina and starters did not get a lot of playing time. The Bama coaches took note of the men in the trenches for most of the honors.

Tide Has Easy Time In 49-0 Romp

Alabama’s offense scored the first six times it got the football and the defense also contributed a touchdown; and even with the game shortened by running the clock after incomplete passes in the second half and Bama playing back-ups more than half the game, the Crimson Tide had an easy time of it Saturday.

Bama Has 32nd 10-Win Season

Alabama’s 49-0 win over Western Carolina was the Crimson Tide’s 10th victory of the season. It is the 32nd season in Bama football history in which 10 or more victories have been recorded, second best in history to Oklahoma, which has 33 not including this season.

Releford-Led Tide Wins In Blowout

Alabama junior guard Trevor Releford had been a mystery non-starter through the first three games of the season. He got his first start of the year in the finals of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Wounded Warriors Project in Madison Square Garden in New York Friday night and responded with an MVP performance in leading Bama to the tournament championship.
