The Columbus Blue Jackets claimed left wing Colton Gillies off waivers from the Minnesota Wild on Saturday.
Gillies was a 2007 first-round draft pick. He has two assists in 37 games this season with the Wild.
The 22-year-old racked up 11 goals and 15 assists in 64 games with Houston of the American Hockey League last year.
Gillies was a member of Canada's gold medal-winning squad at the 2008 world junior championships.
