St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Thursday the club has signed defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo to a one-year contract. “With Jordan Leopold out for a significant period, we wanted to bring an experienced player into our group of seven,” said Armstrong. “Being a former Blue, Carlo is familiar with our organization which should make for an easy transition.” Colaiacovo, 30, spent last season in the Detroit Red Wings organization and has appeared in 376 National Hockey League (NHL) games over 10 seasons. Previously, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman spent parts of four seasons with the Blues (2008-2012) after being acquired from Toronto via trade (along with Alexander Steen) on Nov. 24, 2008.
