ST. LOUIS -- Patrik Berglund will be back with the St. Louis Blues next season. The center, who would have become a restricted free agent July 5, has signed a one-year contract with St. Louis, the team announced Wednesday. Berglund will receive 3.25 million, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "We are pleased to have Patrik signed for the 2013-14 season," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said in a release. "Patrik is an important part of our group as we continue to chase the ultimate prize." Berglund, 25, dressed for every game this season and tied for fourth on the team with 17 goals, including three game-winners and two short-handed. His 23 percent success rate led the NHL in overall shooting percentage. This is the third contract Berglund has had with the Blues since he signed with the team in 2007 after being the 25th pick in the 2006 entry draft. St. Louis now has five potential restricted free agents remaining: Chris Stewart, Alex Pietrangelo, Kevin Shattenkirk, Kris Russell and Jake Allen. Starting July 5, teams can extend offers to these players.The Blues, however, would get the opportunity to match.
