The last time HBO had a free telecast the odds for Sergio Martinez vs. Darren Barker were staggering. Martinez was favored heavily, almost 20/1, in some sportsbooks.
Tonight of Nonito Donaire vs. Omar Narvaez will be just as lopsided from a betting point of view. Both the WBC/WBO bantamweight titles will be up for grabs. While Narvaez, 36, touts a undefeated record (35-0-2, 19 KOs) as well as a stellar amateur record, this is the first time he has fought in America and has fought lesser opposition. Also, many will forget that he defended the WBO flyweight title a record breaking 16 times.
Donaire, top 5 of FightKnight P4P list, has been walking through the competition relatively easily. He (26-1, 18 KOs) enters this title defense on a nine year, 25-bout win streak. He is quickly approaching his prime, he is still 28, and has shown flashes of brilliance.
