BOSTON — Brad Marchand is no stranger to the monkey. The monkey follows him sometimes, as it does most streaky goal scorers. And that damn (dirty?) monkey has a way of coming out to play at the most inopportune times. Much of the conversation in the Bruins dressing room Thursday night, especially around Marchand’s stall, centered around that annoying little primate. The monkey had been hanging on to Marchand like an down-on-their luck family member, following everywhere he went. Unfortunately for the Bruins, that monkey wasn’t afraid of ice and followed the Boston winger right onto the ice for the last month or so. Marchand was finally able to rid himself of that stupid monkey Thursday night, and it couldn’t have come at a better time for him and the Bruins. The pesky forward scored his first goal in 13 games in the second third of the Bruins’ 4-1 win over the lowly Florida Panthers. In the process, Marchand helped jump-start a recently listless Bruins, as Boston scored four goals i...

Defensive Breakdown by Bruins Leads to Quality Scoring Chance for Panthers (Video)

The Panthers were able to create a few quality scoring chances in the first period of Thursday’s game at TD Garden because of some uncharacteristic breakdowns defensively by the Bruins. Among Boston’s mistakes were poor positioning, missed defensive assignments and players taking too long to step up and stop the puck carrier. Watch the video above for a full analysis of the B’s...

Rask, Bruins keep Panthers reeling

Tuukka Rask made 29 saves and the Boston Bruins got goals from four different players to hand the Florida Panthers their seventh straight loss, 4-1 on Thursday night. Rask improved to 9-1 against Florida in helping Boston win for the third time in its last seven home games. The Bruins have won five straight and seven of their last eight against the Panthers. Florida has lost 10...

Chara: I hate being in minus column

In case anybody was wondering, Zdeno Chara detests the idea that he’s a minus player one month into the season. The debate can go on until the cows come home about the reasons why he's a minus player, and the overall merits of the plus/minus stat, but the Bruins captain is a minus-1 for the season after 14 games. To put that in perspective, Chara was a plus-80 over the last...

Peter Chiarelli Admits’ Bruins’ Style Hard to Play, But Also Says B’s Need to Be Better in Midst of Slump

The Bruins’ style of play isn’t easy, and it isn’t for everyone. That much was on display in more ways than one on Tuesday night at TD Garden. Tyler Seguin made his return to Boston on Tuesday night for the first time since being traded to Dallas in the offseason. As we’ve come to find since, there were some in the Boston front office who felt Seguin couldn’t play the B’s...

Frustration mounts for the Boston Bruins

Just when it seems like the team is going to get out of their losing ways and get a win in a game they played well in, the Bruins find a new way to take a loss in the standings. Tuesday night, a poor line-change late in the third period resulted in Dennis Seidenberg having to take a hooking penalty leading to a penalty shot. Less than a minute later, a 2-1 game in favor of the Boston...

Crowd Taunts Seguin. Seguin Schools Rask. BRUINS LOSE.

Same ole Bruins this season. Too little too late on the effort. Too many mental miscues. A power play more impotent than a 90 year old man on life support. The season is young. The Bruins will in all likelihood make the playoffs. But that doesn't make this **** show we've been watching any better. We love you guys. We're paying to see you. Maybe reward us a...

Behind the Scenes: Boston Bruins Talk About Dominating Win Over Florida Panthers

The Boston Bruins crushed the Florida Panthers 4-1 Thursday night at TD Garden.  CLNSRadio's Jonathan Lemons takes you into the B's locker room to hear what Tuuka Rask, Loui Eriksson and Torey Krug had to say after the game.

Berkshire Bank Faceoff: Bruins Looking to Break Out As They Take On Lowly Panthers

BOSTON –The Bruins are looking to turn things around, and lucky for them, the Florida Panthers are in town. With the way the B’s are playing right now, though, nothing’s a sure things. Boston has lost four of its last five games, and they’re struggling in all three zones. But as bad as the Bruins are playing, the Panthers have arguably been worse — and they have been that...

Bruins, Rangers Combine for Monumental Trade Sending Phil Esposito to Rangers on Throwback Thursday (Video)

The Bruins welcomed back a superstar on Tuesday night, as Tyler Seguin returned to the Garden for the first time since being traded to the Stars. Seguin was shipped to Dallas over the summer, and while the unceremonious departure led to a blockbuster seven-player trade, it was far from the first time the B’s traded away one of their cornerstones. From Joe Thornton to Phil Kessel...

Jesse Winchester Suspended Three Games for Elbowing Bruins’ Chris Kelly (Video)

Florida Panthers forward Jesse Winchester has been suspended three games by the NHL for his dangerous elbow to the head of Boston Bruins center Chris Kelly during Thursday’s game at TD Garden. “Rather than make a legal check, Winchester elevates and extends his left elbow, making significant contact with Kelly’s head,” said Brendan Shanahan of the league’s Department of...

Bruins get back on track, beat Panthers 4-1

The Bruins got back on the winning track and beat the lowly Panthers 4-1 at the TD Garden. It was another slow start for the B's (stop me if you've heard that these past three weeks). A scoreless first period between the two teams with not much going on, save for a questionable high-hit on Chris Kelly from Jesse Winchester which saw no penalty called. Gregory Campbell fought Winchester...

Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand Break Down Sequence of Overtime Goal in Unforgettable Game 7 Against Toronto (Video)

Reliving the magic of Game 7 against Toronto really doesn’t get old, and the players proved that holds true for them as well, walking us through Patrice Bergeron‘s overtime goal. Trailing by three goals in the third period, the Bruins went on to score four unanswered goals, stunning Toronto and sending Boston into an absolute frenzy. Brad Marchand, Johnny Boychuk and Bergeron...

Thomas appreciates Bruins fans’ standing ovation

Even after he left them with a season remaining on his contract, Boston Bruins fans still love Tim Thomas. At least that’s the message those at the TD Garden sent when they gave him a standing ovation during last night’s 4-1 victory over the Florida Panthers. Of course, Thomas wasn’t in goal for Florida to counter Tuukka Rask. Although the 39-year-old goaltender is close to...

15. Florida Panthers at Boston Bruins. No Tim Thomas, No Problem - Right?

Man, that Bruins have been pretty ******* bad lately. Losers of 4 out of their last 5 hockey games, Boston welcomes Florida into the TD Garden with open arms. Florida sucks sitting at 14th in the Eastern Conference with a measly 10 points which means Boston is going to play down to their level and get their doors blown off or they're going to be up 1-0 with 2 minutes left, blow...

Toronto Maple Leafs play the Boston Bruins for the first time since the meltdown in Beantown

It was a meltdown of epic proportions. When Nazem Kadri gave his club a 4-1 lead in the 3rd period of Game 7 in last year’s first round matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins, the game, should…Read more →The post Toronto Maple Leafs play the Boston Bruins for the first time since the meltdown in Beantown appeared first on The Hockey Daily.
