Brandon Marshall sure is a creative thinker. The Bears wide receiver came to his press conference on Wednesday with a tiny Charlie Brown-like Christmas tree as a prop, and he used it to make a comparison. The tree only had a few branches, one ornament, and the music box below it plays the Charlie Brown theme song. “Right now, metaphorically, our season looks like this tree right now where we’re standing,” Marshall said. “Barren. Ugly. But there’s still hope. As a kid, it doesn’t matter how your Christmas tree looks. You’re still waiting for Christmas Day. You still have hopes and dreams that Santa’s going to bring you those things you ask for. It’s always a possibility.” The Bears are 8-5 and host the 9-4 Packers on Sunday with a chance to tie them for first place in the NFC North. The Packers will clinch the division with a win. “Where we stand today, our goal is to win the NFC championship, beat the Green Bay Packers, win the Super Bowl. All of that still can be under this Christmas tree. Whenever you’re down, you’ve got to try to create some type of balance, so this is a perfect little thing for me to keep me going.” Marshall also got personal in his press conference, bluntly stating that he doesn’t like the Packers. He challenged the Packers to play him single press coverage rather than double-teaming him. We’ll see if Green Bay takes the bait. I highly doubt they do. Transcription via Sun Times
