3 Reasons to Love Braves Ballpark Plans: Reason #1

While most Braves fans were plum tickled to hear that the team will have new Cobb County digs beginning in 2017, I was surprised by the number of metro Atlantans who aren’t happy about it. I understand that some people feel an attachment to The Ted after 17 years of chopping there, while others lament any move that makes downtown Atlanta less vibrant. I get it. But in the coming...

Tim Hudson Heads West, Joins Giants

As first reported by the Bay Area Sports Guy, the Giants are going to sign former Braves hurler Tim Hudson to a two year, $23 million contract. This is slightly higher than the FanGraphs Crowd’s expected price of $17 million over two years, but still in the same ballpark, essentially. And there are plenty of reasons to like this deal for the Giants. Yes, Tim Hudson is heading...

The event Friday night was a lot of fun, and a great opportunity to learn more about the funding needed for childrens cancer research. My friend Kolbi took a few pictures (see the gallery below), and I had the opportunity to talk with Grainne Owen, the founder of Curing Kids Cancer, and Ashley and Craig Kimbrel about the cause. Kimmie said he learned about Curing Kids Cancer when...

Curaçao Baseball Week 2013: Braves' soaring shortstop Andrelton Simmons stays grounded

By just about every defensive metric known to the baseball world, Braves’ shortstop Andrelton Simmons had one of the greatest seasons we’ve seen in a long time. In 2013, his first full season in the majors, the 24-year old saved an ML-best 41 runs. He consistently made the impossible look ordinary and the difficult look easy (here’s 25 minutes of Simmons being Simmons). ...

Giants Sign Tim Hudson: The Price is Right, What About the Arm?

Former Atlanta Braves starter Tim Hudson will be in the San Francisco Giants starting rotation in 2014 and 2015. The thirty-eight year old veteran just signed a two-year $23 million contract, and that makes this a good financial deal for San Francisco and gives a boost to GM Brian Sabean who is in the middle of a pretty important little project-- rebuilding the Giants' traditional...

In 2013, Hudson pitched to a 3.97 ERA over 131 1/3 innings and 21 starts. On July 24th, he broke his ankle in a grisly incident against the...

Giants, Tim Hudson in agreement on two-year contract

Tim Hudson leads all active major league pitchers with 205 career victories. Count on his next one coming in a Giants uniform. Giants Sign Pitcher Tim Hudson for Two Years

Well, this is exciting news! The San Francisco Giants have signed former Atlanta Braves pitcher Tim Hudson to a two year contract that will pay the right-hander $23 million. With less proven commodities like Ricky Nolasco and Ubaldo Jimenez seeking four to six year contracts for at least as much as Hudson, this has to be considered a steal. Some people may be worried that...
