DaveTroll: Cowboys Fan 4 Life:
Jerry Jones just announced at the end of the season press conference that he has extended Wade Phillips contract through the end of the 2011 season. There is no option on this contract.
If the Cowboys want to go far soon, this is a good step. If the Cowboys went with another coach, would there be a new system the team would have to learn? If there was change, there might be a longer wait for another championship.
The main theme is continuity, the players know the coaches and vice versa. Cowboys are the one of three teams with a winning record since 2005. All this is not the goal, and Jerry and Wade said that they or the team is not satisfied with that. The goal is a Super Bowl victory.
I am going to listen to the conference more and have a little more insight later.
