DALLAS - MAY 14: Brenden Morrow #10 of the Dallas Stars waits for action against the Detroit Red Wings during game four of the Western Conference Finals of the 2008 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs on May 14, 2008 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. (Photo by: Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)
Ray Shero stood pat last year. He doesn't appear to be this season. There is a deal in place for Brendan Morrow.
Via Darren Dreger:
If Morrow waives his NMC, the Pens will apparently deal prospect Joe Morrow.
While that price may seem high, this deal makes unlimited sense.
1. Morrow is a playoff performer. Great read earlier this week from Puck Daddy on Morrow:
Brenden Morrow: Playoff Warrior is an indelible memory from his last trip to the postseason in 2008. He had 15 points in 18 games, carrying the Stars into the conference finals with one of the most stirring individual efforts of the last decade.
2. He brings the veteran leadership the Pens need. He is the captain of the Stars.
3. How scary does Neal-Malkin-Morrow line look?
Morrow is a UFA in the offseason. His cap hit is a reasonable 4.1 million.
