After finally recording his 10th win, Patrick Corbin can focus solely on trying to help the Arizona Diamondbacks remain atop the NL West.
The All-Star left-hander looks to lead the Diamondbacks to a fifth consecutive victory over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.
Corbin (10-1, 2.40 ERA) went 9-0 with a 2.06 ERA in his first 11 starts and 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA over the next six. He allowed a home run and two other hits while striking out 10 in eight innings of a 6-1 win over Colorado on Sunday.
He joins Randy Johnson, Curt Schilling and Brandon Webb as the only Arizona pitchers with at least 10 wins prior to the All-Star break.
"He deserved it a long time ago," Arizona catcher Miguel Montero said. "He should be 15-0, to be honest.
"I'm pretty sure there's a lot of weight off his shoulders to get that 10th win."
Corbin is now focused on trying to help the Diamondbacks (48-44) build on Thursday's 5-3 comeback win over Milwaukee.
BEST OF MAXIM
PHOENIX -- There could hardly have been a better way for Diamondbacks left-hander Patrick Corbin to warm up for his first All-Star appearance.
Corbin overcame a wild first inning Friday night to shut down the Brewers in a 2-1 win before he heads to New York, where he'll pitch for the NL All-Star Team after an improbable and stellar first half.
"I just wanted to finish...
Patrick Corbin was all over the place at the start of the game. Fortunately for the Arizona Diamondbacks, he settled down in time to put together another great performance.

The Milwaukee Brewers have placed left fielder Ryan Braun on the bereavement list effective Thursday due to a family medical issue.
Braun left the Brewers on Thursday, and the club will announce a corresponding roster move following Thursday night's game in Arizona.
After missing a month with an inflamed nerve in his right hand, Braun was activated from the disabled list Tuesday...
PHOENIX -- Kirk Gibson has seen enough.
After the Diamondbacks' bullpen blew its major league-leading 19th save opportunity in a 7-5, 14-inning loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday, Gibson made it clear that things must change in the late innings.
Role reversals. A trade or two. Promotions.
It sounds as if anything and everything could be on the table -- anything that will keep...
Earlier in the year, losses were piling up for Kyle Lohse. Now, he's working on another long unbeaten streak.
The Brewers hope Lohse can extend that run while winning his third straight start Saturday night against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Lohse (5-6, 3.47 ERA) is 4-0 with a 2.37 ERA in his last eight starts and hasn't lost since an 8-6 defeat at Minnesota on May...
The Milwaukee Brewers recalled outfielder Khris Davis from Triple-A Nashville following Thursdays 5-3 loss to Arizona, filling the void on the roster created by Ryan Brauns placement on the bereavement list.
Davis, 25, rejoins the Brewers for his second stint with the big league team. After making the club out of spring training, Davis was sent to Nashville on May 2.
A power surge...
With his effort on Friday night, Patrick Corbin made his case to Bruce Bochy for him to start for the National League in the All-Star Game on Tuesday night.
PHOENIX (AP) -- Martin Prado lined a two-run single in the eighth inning, Wade Miley pitched eight effective innings and the Diamondbacks ended a three-game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Brewers on Thursday night.

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Trevor Cahill, who has been on the disabled list since July 1 with a hip contusion and recent shoulder soreness, threw 20 pitches in a bullpen session on Thursday and "felt pretty good."
As reported by Steve Gilbert of MLB.com,
"Cahill said, ""t's the first time I've taken multiple days off during the season, so...
It has been well documented that the Diamondbacks have been looking for a top of the line starter or a No. 3 type starter. They have been linked to Matt Garza, Jeff Samadzija, Yovani Gallardo and others, but now it appears that the Diamondbacks are heavily targeting relievers.
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com that while they may trade for...
Despite being suspected of using performance-enhancing drugs, Ryan Braun has successfully avoided suspension from MLB. That fact has apparently struck a nerve with several of his peers.
Braun, along with other players, is now facing the possibility of a 100-game suspension for his link to the Biogenesis clinic and, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney, there are players around the...
The Diamondbacks are reeling after seeing their comfortable 4.5-game NL West lead shrink to 1.5 games after the Dodgers swept them in three games, including a 14-inning heart breaker Wednesday.
L.A., with rookie phenom Yasiel Puig and a resurgentg starting rotation, has been suggested as the new NL West favorite, so it's up to the D-backs to bounce back and protect their ground...
It’s never classy to take an unfortunate situation to turn it into your own gain. But the point you are trying to make is don’t be afraid to “pitch inside” and the example you use is Brandon McCarthy’s scary ball-to-the-head line drive that nearly killed him, it’s especially douchey.
Unfortunately for MLB Network analyst Mitch Williams, he messed with the wrong dude...
Well, you can say this about the Heath Bell Experience. At least there’s never a dull moment when he’s on the mound. Staked with a one-run lead in the ninth, Bell found a new way to blow a save.
