Browns coach Pat Shurmur made one thing clear: rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden must eliminate interceptions.
Weeden has thrown 12 picks, tying two other QBs for the second-highest total in the NFL this season behind Dallas' Tony Romo (13). The 29-year-old Weeden and the Browns (2-7) visit the Cowboys (4-5) on Sunday.
Shurmur said there's a fine line between being aggressive and careless with the football. He has reviewed all of Weeden's interceptions and said ''there were times when he could have made better decisions.'' Shurmur believes Weeden can become an ''outstanding'' NFL quarterback and to be one ''he's got to lead us to victories and don't throw as many interceptions.''
Weeden has completed 185 of 336 passes for 2,088 yards and nine touchdowns. His passer rating is 67.9 - ahead of only two QBs.

Pat Shurmur spoke to the media following the team’s practice on Wednesday and spoke about rookie QB Brandon Weeden-
(On one aspect of Brandon Weeden’s game that has to improve over the rest of the season)- “Don’t throw interceptions. Done, end of story. I want to be right to the point.”

The numbers aren't good, at least not good enough. Brandon Weeden doesn't need anyone to tell him that.
The Browns rookie quarterback doesn't have to scan his statistics to know he has to play better. He's well aware that he's thrown too many interceptions, won too few games and has yet to convince Cleveland owner Jimmy Haslam and new CEO Joe Banner that he&...
BEREA The rest of the season starts Sunday for the coaches, front office personnel and players of the Browns. Jimmy Haslam and Joe Banner have said on the record that they will all be under the microscope as the two make decisions pertaining to the future of the team.
However, there is probably no more of an important decision that the organization can make than whether Brandon...
Browns coach Pat Shurmur spoke to the media after practice about rookie RB Trent Richardson-
(On how he goes about getting the ball to Trent Richardson in space)- “In our game plans we have ways for him to run the ball inside, off tackle, outside the defense and then you see we run them on wide routes out of the backfield as part of a progression. If they take away the ball down...
Jimmy Haslam seemingly dissatisfied
Some may not like the fact that more change hasn’t occurred with the Browns since Jimmy Haslam took over, but Haslam did say he wasn’t going to change much before the end of the season. There’s obvious value in openness and honesty. When Jimmy Haslam said he wouldn’t make changes until the end of the year, many took a wait-and-see approach...
This past week the Cleveland Browns CEO Joe Banner granted interviews
to the local beat writers and most of the questions leaned towards the
future. Unfortunately, at this point the most interesting thing about
the 2-7 Browns is what will happen after the season is over.
In the NFL, the key to a successful team is having the right coach and quarterback. As Joe Banner told...
