You can’t win ‘em all, but you’d like to win as many as you can against a hated rival. The Bruins weren’t able to overcome the absence of Zdeno Chara in the third period of Sunday night’s loss to the Canadiens, allowing a one-goal lead to turn into a deficit while their captain sat in the sin bin. In a game filled with chippy play from start to finish, Brad Marchand appeared very much in his element, instigating like he normally does and earning the ire of many a Montreal fan. The Little Ball of Hate was also able to tally three assists, however, proving his worth and cementing himself once again as a valuable piece of the Bruins’ attack. In honor of Marchand’s three points, NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding him our “Hate the Habs” player of the game. Who’s yours? Was Chara right to go after Emelin?

Much is being made of Zdeno Chara's decision last night to pummel Canadien's defenseman Alexei Emelin after his cross-check cheap shot to the ribs of Tyler Seguin. Chara wasted no time following the play in finding Emelin, decking him, and then delivering a sequence of punches that would make even the toughest guys quiver (some of those punches were thrown while Emelin was...

Zdeno Chara Pummels Alexei Emelin While Sticking Up for Tyler Seguin (Video)

BOSTON — Zdeno Chara reminded the hockey world of two things on Sunday night in Boston. He reminded everyone why he’s the Bruins captain, and he sent a startling reminder as to why you don’t want to ever fight the big fella. Chara pummeled Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin in the second period of Sunday night’s game after Chara apparently thought Emelin cheap-shotted...

Marchand clutch again for Bruins

One of the obvious narratives that continues to develop in this Boston Bruins season is the goal-scoring touch that Brad Marchand continues to display. You know that it won't last forever, but then again, the B's forward continues to pot big goals. He did that once again Saturday afternoon at TD Garden when he scored with just 2:16 to play in the third period, giving the...

Costly Chara Penalty Helps Habs Handle Bruins, 4-3, At Garden

The Canadiens celebrate after David Desharnais (51) scored the game-winning goal Sunday night in Boston. Claude Julien Supports Zdeno Chara ’100 Percent,’ Also Thinks Incident Will Help Tyler Seguin

Claude Julien said Sunday night that he had no problem with Zdeno Chara‘s fight, even if it may have cost the team a win. He stood by those sentiments on Monday as well. The Bruins coach addressed the media following practice in Wilmington, and he continued to support Chara, who took 17 penalty minutes after fighting Alexei Emelin in the second period of Boston’s 4-3 loss to...

Brad Marchand, Tyler Seguin Help Bruins ‘Storm Back’ Against Lightning to Set Up First-Place Showdown Sunday (Video)

The Bruins have been dominating much of this season, but it took their sixth win in a row to finally push them to where they belong — first place. After overcoming two early goals by the Tampa Bay Lightning, the B’s find themselves atop the Northeast Division standings with the Montreal Canadiens waiting to knock them off their perch. That game comes Sunday, so Boston won...

Brad Marchand, Claude Julien Both Call Out P.K. Subban After Bruins’ Loss to Canadiens

BOSTON — It’s becoming more and more clear that P.K. Subban is someone who relishes the opportunity to be the bad guy in opposing rinks, especially if that rink is TD Garden. When he’s in town with the Canadiens to play the Bruins, Subban turns into the NHL’s version of the bad guy in a professional wrestling match, or a heel as it’s called in the business. And while Subban...

Bruins With Ugly Loss in Washington 4-3

It's never easy with the Bruins. It looked like the Bruins were going to breeze right through this one as they came out of the gates to the tune of a 3-0 lead after one, thanks to a Brad Marchand short handed penalty shot, a Zdeno Chara cleanup, and a Dougie Hamilton power play rip. It looked like the Caps were out of the Bruins league, however they proved everyone wrong. 2...

Lightning fade away against the Bruins
