Found December 30, 2013 on Puck Drunk Love:
Ilya Bryzgalov is abandoning the plain white mask he has been wearing during the 2013-14 season. Bryzgalov's new mask, seen above, has a terrific blue and orange color scheme and a couple of special drawings.  These drawings, one on each side, were reportedly created by Bryzgalov's children. One appears to depict Bryzgalov in net and the other highlights the Winter Olympic Games.  Great mask Bryz! (H/T Reddit Hockey)

WATCH: Ilya Bryzgalov throws stick in disgust

Some days aren't the best for Edmonton Oilers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. Sure, he'll make combined $10 million this season between his bought out Philadelphia Flyer contract and the one he's earning now in Edmonton, and he's mostly played well with the Oil (a .916 save percentage in nine games despite a losing record). But some days, your old team comes back from...

How much could you buy with Bryzgalov's Flyers salary?

Kudos to Hockey Night in Canada for this bit of snark during their featured broadcast of the Philadelphia Flyers and Edmonton Oilers Saturday night. Ilya Bryzgalov's contract with the Flyers was big. Humangous big. But just how much are the Flyers picking up in their buyout of him? Lots. Lots of Barenaked Ladies downloads: Fantastic graphic on #HockeyNight of things you...

Flyers beat Bryzgalov and Oilers

Michael Raffl was getting ready to take his helmet off so he could get a better view of the Flyers’ impending shootout against the Oilers. And then he heard the coach call his name. The rookie winger had never taken part in an NHL shootout before. He’d never faced ex-Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. But coach Craig Berube called his name nonetheless, and as the final player to...

Flyers best Bryzgalov, Oilers in shootout

Michael Raffl scores Ilya Bryzgalov for the game-winning goal in the shootout of the Flyers 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers. (Photo Courtesy of ESPN.com) A rusty first period allowed Ilya Bryzgalov and the Edmonton Oilers to shine while the Philadelphia Flyers struggled. That was the benefit of playing the night before for Edmonton. But once the Flyers found their legs, they found...

Matt Henderson: G42 Oilers @ Coyotes: You Had One Job...

I'm actually really disappointed in all of you. I went on vacation for 8 days and I come back to find out that Nail Yakupov is going to be a healthy scratch so Roman Horak can get into the lineup. You had ONE job... There's no doubt that Yak has struggled under Eakins with just 14 points and -25 at the halfway mark of the year. The Rookie coach has taken a hardline approach...

Why you heff to be mad? Raffl caps off Flyers shootout win against Bryzgalov, Oilers

Ilya Bryzgalov failed in the shootout yet again in his career, but this time it’s a good thing for the Philadelphia Flyers, as the Orange and Black grabbed two points in a 4-3 decision against the Edmonton Oilers on the road. Claude Giroux and Michael Raffl beat Bryzgalov in the shootout, while Wayne Simmonds recorded another multi-goal performance. The captain and Jakub Voracek...

Twice Is Nice: Flyers Best Hot Canucks In Shootout

Another game, another shootout victory. After vanquishing their former teammate Ilya Bryzgalov, now an Edmonton Oiler, in a shootout victory late Saturday evening, the Flyers decided once wasn’t enough and repeated the feat two days later against the Vancouver Canucks, perhaps the hottest team in the NHL right now. Vancouver had been on a December stretch of 10-1-1, nothing...

Flyers at Oilers Game Preview

Guess who’s back… PHILADELPHIA FLYERS (17-16-4) at EDMONTON OILERS (13-24-3) GOALIES Steve Mason (14-9-4, .923 save pct) vs Ilya Bryzgalov (2-4, .915 save pct) LAST MEETING Flyers beat Edmonton 4-2 on November 9th at the Wells Fargo Center behind goals from Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell, Vincent Lecavalier, and (somehow) Jay Rosehill.  Edmonton got goals from […]The post Flyers...

Tim Panaccio: Consecutive Shootout Wins? A Pleasant Rarity

A number of things stand out on the Flyers 5-game Western Canada road swing which sees the Flyers with 4 points after consecutive shootout wins. Starters: 1) You have to go back to March of 2006 to find the last time the Flyers won two games in a row in a shootout. Simple theory here. Ilya Bryzgalov was terrible in shootouts - 4-7 with the Flyers. The team has zero confidence...
