Starkville, Miss. – Moral victories don’t exist inside the Mississippi State softball program, but the Bulldogs hung with No. 3/4 Florida for two-straight games before falling by scores of 1-0 and 8-5 Wednesday night at the MSU Softball Stadium. The losses dropped the Maroon and White to 14-5 (0-2 SEC), while the Gators improved to 21-1 (2-0 SEC).

Mississippi State will spend the weekend waiting to see if it receives an at-large bid to this year's NCAA Tournament. The Basketball Bulldogs find themselves in this precarious position after being upset 71-61 by the Georgia in an opening-round game of the Southeastern Conference Tournament Thursday night at New Orleans Arena.
NEW ORLEANS-- Underdog Georgia rallied past Mississippi State and pulled off a 71-61 victory in the opening round of the SEC Tournament. Vanderbilt will face the Georgia version of the Bulldogs on Friday night at 9 p.m. CT.

The Event: Mississippi State (21-10, 8-8 SEC) takes on Georgia (14-16, 5-11) in a battle of Bulldog teams at the SEC Tournament. This is the last game of the first round with a scheduled 9:00ct tipoff at the New Orleans Arena. The SEC Network carries all Thursday and Friday games, with ABC taking over for the semis and finals.
