Furniture Row Racing had already announced that Kurt Busch, not Regan Smith, would be behind the wheel of its No. 78 Chevrolet entry in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2013, but on Friday morning, the team announced that Busch would be joining the team a little earlier than originally expected. According to a press release from FRM on Friday, Busch will climb into the No. 78 for the Oct. 13 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. From then, he’ll finish out the year in the car, with races following at Kansas Speedway, Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway and the season-finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. “We want to come out of the chute next year ready and raring to go,” Busch said. “Driving the Furniture Row Chevrolet in the final six races of this season will, obviously, give us a big advantage in our preparations for 2013.
