Editor's note: Please help BLUE COUGAR FOOTBALL support a wonderful charitable cause, and get a BYU collector's item in return. Click here for more information.  Friday is the first meeting between the Brigham Young Cougars and the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. It is the fourth time since BYU has gone independent that it will play a school for the first time.  Did you know that BYU is undefeated (3-0) in first meetings with opposing schools since going independent in 2011? Those three other first meetings occurred in 2011: Ole Miss, UCF, and New Mexico State.  Ole Miss: W, 14-13 UCF: W, 24-17 New Mexico State: W, 42-7 As you can see, the only game that was a comfortable win was New Mexico State. That may be a good sign, since this week's opponent is Middle Tennessee State. BYU has one more game on the 2013 schedule that will be the first meeting between the two schools: Houstion, October 19.
