Video: Cal PG kicked by Arizona coach while going for loose ball

Joe Pasternack(Assistant Coach) should be reprimanded at least for displaying this kind of behavior. When students/players exhibit this type of behavior, they are reprimanded, as they should be. This is "The Adult" the person who should be setting the example. The coach body language, his facial expressions indicates "meanness" in this video. Kicking the player, come on get him out of there.

I love how this whole conversation is in regard to a screen name and comment left by someone trolling the actual issue - the coach kicking a player. Good job jfchrist! The art of trolling is strong with this one, haha.

This is a tragic display of abuse. The problem of abusive coaches is epidemic in collegiate sports as well as (most disturbingly) in high school athletics. The "coaches" are supposed to be teachers first. They are, however, pressured by University and even High School administrations to PERFORM, to bring in the bucks. The problem is much bigger than this one unfortunate instance.

There is a petition on Change dot org intent on bringing attention to and stop abusive coaches (and teachers). Find it and sign it! It is focused on certain coaches at Cary High School in Wake County, NC, and is a laser pointer for a problem that needs floodlight attention. This is somewhere (similarly to the attention finally given to players on the field with concussions) where celebrity would be a great help.

Thank God he didn't call the player a Nappy headed ho ! He could have gotten in some serious trouble then. Heck he may have even lost his job.

What is the rest of the story? I'm sure that the player was talking **** the entire game and went into the Arizona bench a little harder than usual. College basketball players are nothing but ignorant thugs. When they are not in uniform for the game they are looking for trouble some where else. Tragic display of abuse? The only trajic display of abuse that I see is the abuse of the academic system by these players, because we all know that don't do any school work. They are only there to get to the big leagues, so they don't have to worry about getting passing grades.

Did you all watch the clip? He did not kick him, when the player fell on the bench his shorts got caught up with the assisistant coaches foot..........Everybody is trying to condem this poor coach for trying to get his foot out of that players ass.....

It's obvious if you closely watch the clip that Pasternack's foot got caught in Gutierrez's shorts as he was tipped back in his chair when Gutierrez fell on him. He was simply trying to free his foot. As for his facial expression...not sure what I would look like if someone were falling on me but I'm guessing I wouldn't be smiling. This is much hype and drama over nothing. Not to mention irresponsible jouranlism.
