Cam Impresses

After witnessing the first training camp practice in pads, I can now see why Cam Newton was the number one pick in the NFL draft. Despite reports from disgruntled media hacks who have had their interview requests ignored, I can tell you that Cam does not come across as arrogant. In fact, he only comes across as a charismatic leader. Cam was the only quarterback on the field that would actually slap the helmets of his squad when they did well and give them a smile with encouragement. To me, this is more of a motivator that Clausen’s awkward demeanor. Jimmy Clausen still seems like the new guy, while Newton is developing chemistry quickly. It is obvious where Newton excels. Put him in and roll him out. Let him think on his feet and give him the option to run and he is extremely dangerous. It is also obvious, however, where Newton needs improvement.
