Sometimes, emotions get the best of you, and that’s not exclusive to negative emotion, as the Los Angeles Sparks showed us Sunday night.
The Sparks, one of the best teams in the WNBA this season, got a big bucket from Nneka Ogwumike late in a game against the Connecticut Sun. After she scored the basket as she fouled, teammate Candace Parker came over to celebrate. And boy, did she celebrate.
Parker went in for the real thing with a big bear hug for Ogwumike. There was only one problem, though. Parker caught Ogwumike with a headbutt, leaving the Sparks center’s face bloodied.

First off, I didn’t even know the WNBA season was still going on and secondly, I hope Nneka Ogwumike is ok. Let’s set the scene, the LA Sparks hit a clutch shot in OT against the Detroit Shock. Candace Parker decides she wants to celebrate by headbutting her teammate. The good news is the Sparks won the game in double OT.
Candace Parker scored 28 points, Nneka Ogwumike had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and the Los Angeles Sparks beat the Connecticut Sun 91-78 on Tuesday night.
Lindsey Harding added 18 points to help the Sparks (20-8) remain one game behind Minnesota for first place in the Western Conference. Parker also had seven assists.
