Despite taking a blazing line drive off his elbow, the St. Louis Cardinals expect Shelby Miller to be able to make his next scheduled start.  The start will be pushed back to the middle of next week due to some adjustments the Cardinals made in the rotation yesterday.  The 22-year old righty had even asked to start a game this weekend. Jennifer Langosch of MLB.com says Miller tested his arm yesterday while throwing a side session.  His arm responded so well that manage Mike Matheny was confident Miller would be back on the mound next weekend.  Miller was so encouraged that he lobbied for a weekend start, but was rebutted.  Miller expected worse when he was hit, as did most Cardinals fans. "[It's] just a little sore, but nothing bad," Miller said. "I figured it would be a little worse than it was based on how that ball hit me. It feels really good. It feels loose. We're doing a little more treatment. I'm trying to see if I can pitch as soon as possible." Miller is in just his second Major League season.  He has started 22 games this season after starting just one last year (he made six total appearances last season, though).  This year, Miller is 11-7 with a 2.89 ERA.  He's been more than impressive, and the Cardinals are excited about his future. He was hit on the right elbow during Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The ball rocketed off Miller's elbow, but he did not react as if the injury was serious.  It clearly hurt, but Miller did not go to the ground in pain.  He was lifted from the game, though.  News of the fact that he will avoid the DL is encouraging and exactly what the Cardinals needed to hear.
