Caris LeVertBy Paul Seaver (TheArenaPulse)
Earlier this week, 2012 shooting guard Caris LeVert made the call in favor of the Ohio Bobcats.
LeVert's verbal commitment became the first for Ohio and head coach John Groce from the class of 2012.
Just two seasons removed from a shocking NCAA Tournament upset over Georgetown, the program at Ohio continues to move forward, finishing the season with 19 wins a year ago.

The addition of LeVert is a great boost for OU, given the in-state recruit is currently ranked at No. 8 overall among Ohio prospects, according to ESPNU.

As for the factors that ultimately played a part in his decision, LeVert explained, "Well, first off it's only an hour away from my house. Also, they have great coaches there and the campus is great."

From a basketball sense as well, LeVert knew he had picked the right school upon his decision. "They play my style, it was basically a no-brainer when I went up to the campus for a visit."

With a college decision behind him, LeVert can now turn his attention to the goals he hopes to accomplish once eligible for the Bobcats in 2012. "Well, individually, my number one goal is to get a degree from OU. Also, I'd like to become a better basketball player and man by the time I graduate."

While LeVert emphasizes the importance of his academics, he undoutedly will also look to be successful on the basketball court, alongside his future teammates at Ohio. "I want to win the MAC, both regular season and tournament. A second goal would be to make it to the NCAA Tournament and win games."

At 6-foot-4, LeVert will have a great opportunity to excel within the Ohio back court during his career in Athens.

Prior to making the call, Levert also considered Alabama State and St. Francis (PA).
