Carl Crawford didn’t bring much to the table in Boston, and he hasn’t brought anything to the table in Los Angeles. Yet as Opening Day approaches, Crawford is still flapping his gums about his less-than-stellar Red Sox tenure. Crawford again spoke out about his time in Boston during an interview with CBSSports.com’s Danny Knobler. The outfielder acknowledged that he didn’t produce while donning a Sox jersey, but he also insisted that Boston just wasn’t the right fit for him. That may be so, but why continue to harp on the disappointing two seasons, especially if you’re trying to put the whole experience in the rearview mirror? The biggest problem with Crawford’s ongoing desire to speak out is that he’s walking a fine line. We all know his stint with the Sox was disappointing, so in repeatedly reverting back to the argument while in a new environment, he’s running the risk of a similar storyline unfolding all over again. Crawford, who has yet to play a game with the Dodgers, has alre...

Podcast: 'Dugout Blues' episode 26 - Dodgers, Kershaw, Puig, Harang

On this episode of "Dugout Blues," Jared Massey (Dodger Diamond) and I look at Dodger spring training up to this point. Clayton Kershaw is off to a slow start in Spring Training. Is it something to be concerned about? Yasiel Puig is the talk of camp and fans are clamoring for his inclusion on the 25-man roster. It isn't going to happen, even if Carl Crawford begins...

John Lackey with a solid start?

Prepare yourself Red Sox Nation John Lackey has had a great start already this spring training. On Tuesday against the Puerto Rico team Lackey threw 3 shutout innings to start the game. He struck out 2 and only gave up 3 hits in his outing. Lackey is performing well seeing as this is his third start back from Tommy John surgery. When asked about the outing he said I felt really good...

Mike Carp is with the Red Sox, but his trade counterpart has yet to be named for the Mariners. Clutchitude: Least Clutch Plays By The 2012 Dodgers – Hitting

Baseball fans love to talk about clutch plays and clutch players, and Dodgers fans are no exception, but like with a pitcher’s best and worst pitches, there tends to be a lack of evidence presented. As such, I decided to find some basis for clutch plays and clutch players, courtesy of the WPA and Clutch statistics. WPA Most sabermetric statistics are context neutral — they do...

I’m sorry for the negativity that I brought, but that’s about...

Craig Breslow Unlikely to Be Ready for Opening Day, According to John Farrell

The Red Sox’ bullpen is expected to be one of the team’s strengths this season, but don’t say the Sox have too many arms down there. Craig Breslow, who arrived at spring training with weakness in his left shoulder, is likely to start the season on the disabled list, according to manager John Farrell. Breslow recently started throwing on flat ground, but he hasn’t thrown off...
