Plantation (FL) defensive back Jeremy Cash became the 9th member of the 2011 class when he called Jim Tressel earlier today and informed him that he would like to play in some real football weather*.
The 6-2 Cash, projected as a safety at the next level, caught the eye of scouts after a stellar sophomore campaign in which he posted 82 tackles (15 of which were TFLs), nine sacks and an interception. Long thought to be a heavy Buckeye lean, Cash arrived at OSU’s camp later that summer in a suit, saying it was a “business trip”.
At the time, the south Florida prospect was also drawing interest from heavies such as Miami, Florida State, Nebraska, Tennessee, Alabama and others, receiving offers from most of these schools.
Cash returned to Columbus for the USC game and was said to have fallen in love with the atmosphere and was waiting on an offer, which he received shortly thereafter. On the field, he got back at it, notching nearly 100 tackles as a junior in 2009.
