Several sources including ESPN and NFL.com report that the owners and NFLPA have agreed to extend the CBA another seven days.  Both sides will come back to the table and resume talks beginning Monday.  Players’ transactions are still suspended during this time.

This length of an extension makes one think that the two sides are ready to come to a deal on a new CBA.  It appears that the X-factor that the owner’s held became a zero factor after U.S. District Judge David S. Doty ruled in favor of the NFLPA on Tuesday with regards to the pay-if-no-play media contract the owners had the television networks sign up for.  Thanks to Doty, the owners were denied rights to a 4 million dollar payout from the networks even if there wasn’t a single game played.  I guess the owners decided they didn’t have any incentive to keep things at an impasse.

Stay tuned.
