Tyson Chandler was not surprised that Jason Kidd retired recently to eventually become head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, but he does think the former New York Knicks guard could have played more seasons in the NBA.
"I tried to [convince him]," Chandler said. "I did. I thought he had a couple of more years in him. I gave my input. I tried to tell him he could still do it, and you have a lot left in you.’’
Although Kidd went scoreless in the final 10 games of the season, Chandler does not believe he went through a slump.
“I didn’t consider it a slump,’’ Chandler said. “He’s a floor leader. He entered the game as a floor leader and leaves it as a floor leader. He didn’t make shots in the playoffs, but that’s not a slump for him. It’s everything else Jason brings.’’

Tyson Chandler for Derrick Williams, Luke Ridnour and the 26th pick:
At first glance this trade seems uneven on the negative end for the Minnesota Timberwolves. They are giving up two rotational players and a first rounder, but if you take a closer glance you can see that this makes sense on both ends for both organizations.

Many experts wondered if Jason Kidd would take the summer to learn a few of the intricacies of coaching, or jump right in with his team during the NBA summer league.
Newsday is reporting that Kidd has chosen to jump right in, and start coaching his team during the Orlando Summer League.
“I think it’s the best thing to get right into it,” Kidd said on ESPN Radio. “I know that...

The retirements of Jason Kidd and Grant Hill over the past few weeks have left me in a nostalgic mood. The two 19-year veterans were the second and third picks of the 1994 draft, which was the height of my Milwaukee Bucks fandom. I was never more excited about a sports-related non-sporting event than the 1994 draft lottery when the Bucks won...
The Brooklyn Nets have big expectations for first-year head coach Jason Kidd, who was just hired. Well, at least the team owner does.
Seeing as how he has zero coaching experience, this is probably a good idea. New Brooklyn Nets head coach Jason Kidd is reportedly going to get a jump start on his new job and coach the Nets in the Orlando Summer League. “I think it’s the best thing to get right into it,” Kidd said [...]
Mikhail Prokhorov sees a budding coaching star in Jason Kidd because of the former Nets guard's knowledge and playing experience.
“The point is that there are people who are born coaches,” Prokhorov said. “And it is known that Jason Kidd was in fact a player-coach on many teams. And he has been training for a long time. He has played under many coaches, and he has always...
With no coaching experience and freshly retired as a player, Jason Kidd was a somewhat controversial choice as the new head coach of the Nets. Former Duke star Billy King says he asked Coach K his opinion and Krzyzewski apparently thought Kidd would be great.
He’s got work to do – the Nets aren’t exactly a tough team – but the guy’s a life. If he can find a way to get it...
At Murray State, Isaiah Canaan was a tremendous scorer at the guard position. He averaged 22.4 points per game, while doing it efficiently at 43% shooting. While Canaan is projected to go in the late part of the first round, the Knicks may want to look at him with the 24th overall pick. Here is why.
