The San Diego Chargers' chaotic long snapper situation took another negative turn today when the team had to place long snapper James Dearth on injured reserve with a foot injury. They signed long snapper Ryan Neill to a one-year contract to replace him. Dearth was the replacement for David Binn, who's also on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
So, now Neill takes over as the the Chargers' third long snapper in the second week of the regular season. Neill is in his fourth NFL season and snapped in nine games during the 2009 season for the St. Louis Rams.
