Move over “Rock Chalk, Jayhawk” the University of Kansas has a new, slightly less catchy saying floating around its football team. UK football has struggled in recent years, and in Charlie Weis’ first year as head coach in 2012, he did nothing to turn things around, limping along to a 1-11 record.  At the Big 12 Media Days on Monday, Weis divulged that his recruiting pitch doesn’t contain a lot of optimism about the upcoming season, but it is full of brutal honesty. “Everyone wants to play,” Weis said. “There’s no one that wants to not play. I said, ‘Have you looked at that pile of crap out there? Have you taken a look at that?’ So if you don’t think you can play here, where do you think you can play? It’s a pretty simple approach. And that’s not a sales pitch. That’s practical. You’ve seen it, right? Unfortunately, so have I.” The former Notre Dame head coach did manage to convince a significant number of junior college transfers that they are better than the “pile of crap out there” as he locked down 18 on national signing day.
