Chiefs Post:
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali was named Defensive Player of the Week in the AFC for his performance against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The Chiefs improved to 3-0 after their 31-10 over the Niners and continue to emerge as one of the top sleeper teams in 2010.
Hali forced one fumble and recorded three of the team’s five sacks on Alex Smith and has played a key role in the success of the Chiefs’ defense this season. In three games, Hali has recorded 3.5 sacks and helped Kansas City allow their opponents to score just 38 points.
It was the second time this season a member of the Chiefs won an award after rookie Dexter McCluster earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in Week 1. Hali was selected by the Chiefs in the first round (20th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Penn State and seems to get better and better each game he plays.
