As he endures an 0-4 start to his rookie season as an NFL head coach, Steve Spagnuolo has leaned on an old friend to help him out.
"Brad's been great," said Spagnuolo, the St. Louis Rams head coach.
He was talking, of course, about Vikings coach Brad Childress, whom he coached alongside in Philadelphia, under Eagles head coach Andy Reid.
Spagnuolo said Childress gave him two key tips.
"Stick to what you believe in. The other thing is, enjoy it. Make sure you enjoy it," Spagnuolo said.
Spagnuolo admitted that he has "mixed emotions" about an 0-4 start with the Rams. "If we stay the course, eventually this thing will work itself out."
Spagnuolo said he spoke to Childress within the last few weeks, and he expected they would chat at some point later this week.
"I always enjoy talking to Brad, because he's always got something enlightening to say," Spagnuolo said.
