I think it has come to the point in basket where changes have to be made in scoring.

When the slam dunk was in acted, several years ago. All the teams went for the big players ( seven footers etc.)  to do the job. And who wound up with them, the big schools and the big schools only. Unfair !!!

What we need to do is change the point system.

1- 2 point shot stays the same.

2- 3 point shot stays the same. 

3- 1 point shot for the dunk.

The dunk shot takes no skill do perform at all, and we don't need that. A dunk shot requires only players with tall height period!

This in turn would even out the basket ball teams even more.

We don't need to raise the rim, we don't have to postpone or reschedule games for broken backboards. And prevent injuries, it is just a matter of time.

Sure I like the dunk shot, but it is time for the change.

  • I'm sorry I don't like the dunk why? its being almost looked at as a fundamental? of the sport? my heavens get me a ladder? and Ill dunk!
    No I think we are slowly getting away from the learning tools of any sports and replaced it with the entertainment? yes its entertaining to watch any sport But? I have seen about enough of players missing a ton of free throws??? why?? do they miss??? not enough practice! I've been to many practices in the past, and I've seen coaches not stressing enough of FT's .
    sure it gets rears of the seats, But If I were a coach? a missed dunk? who's rear? is seated ??? yep you got it!
    this isn't the harlem globe guys, nope .
    lets start practicing things needed to hoops and not the Entertainment value....so much!
