College FB '12 Dread News - Week 6

Posted October 13, 2012

One of the benefits of having Texas A&M and Missouri join the SEC this season was that it allowed the schedule maker to move the South Carolina-Georgia game from its usual spot in Week 2 to later in the season. Not that South Carolina Coach Spurrier considered it a benefit .............

You know, when I first started posting articles in the House of Dread back in late August 2008, I was really excited to find out how much interest there would be in a blog that focuses almost exclusively on athletes with dreadlocks. If you've been around Yardbarker (YB for short) as long as I have, you'll remember the "bark it up" feature that allowed you to track exactly how much interest there was in every item posted by everybody. Having seen that the posts on the account known as Shakedemdreads were generating a lot of interest, and (just like anybody else) having the ego that I do, I thought there would be a decent amount of interest in what I had to offer. And there was. I thought I was going to live happily ever after.

But then YB changed. In June 2009 YB decided, to my great disappointment, to do away with "bark it up." Ever since then, I've been flying blind, hoping that somebody was still reading my stuff but having no idea if anybody actually was. As time passed, YB has continued to de-emphasize the content posted by common people like me, who are blogging just for fun. More changes followed, and the latest two big changes have been nothing short of devastating.

Earlier this year YB deleted everything on everybody's account posted prior to October 2011. Gone. Just like that. Without any explanation everything I did in the first 3 years of this blog just disappeared. I wasn't exactly thrilled, to say the least, but I continued on. But now, within the past few weeks, the giant YB eraser has struck again. Not only is including photos with your posts no longer allowed, but YB also deleted all the photos from all previous posts. When I found that out, I just about went numb (and yes, I was pissed off too). Again without any warning or reason, all the photos in all those dread galleries I spent all that time posting just vanished.

I doubt that this is the case, but it sure seems like every change YB made was directed at me personally. Well YB, congratulations. If you are trying to get me to leave, you have succeeded. You have pretty much made a shambles of this blog. I can't do this blog without photos. It makes no sense to. So if any one you wants to see the rest of my Week 6 report, as well as anything else I do from now on, you'll have to go to the new home of the House of Dread, which you can reach by clicking on this link:

I am not officially closing my YB account. I'll still be updating my marquee daily with birthdays and other tidbits. You can click on the "SEE ALL HOUSEOFDREAD PHOTOS" link to view the photos I posted with my last few items (they haven't been deleted yet). I might even post a thing or two here. But the bulk of my stuff from now on will be in my new house. Thank you.
