t is very rare that here at Collies In The Meadow we leave our collie topic.  However, with the horrible events in Japan we at Niamh's Misty Meadow send up our prayers for the victims, those affected by these events and the whole of Japan.

This tragedy has a very hurtful spot for me personally.  In one of the cities where I had a Japanese pen pal for years the Earthquake and Tsunami hit. I watched in horror on TV as the city I had seen in the pictures she had sent me of her with her two beautiful daughters and her husband came to life as I saw the buildings I recognized. The recognition became full horror as I watched them all wiped off the earth by the wall of water and debri.

As the realization of what I saw hit me I realized I was watching all these cars being washed into the ocean and how many white mini vans, like they had, were going in and being sucked into the Whirlpool.

Horror became shock and tears followed as I realized my friend could very well be being killed in front of my eyes.

I had hope till the next morning when a helicopter flew over the city and I saw what they saw.... pure devastation and onkly foundations of the buldings and homes that used to be there.  Then, the translator repeated what they were saying.... there is no one here.. no one is moving... where is everyone.... no one is here.

If my friend was home in the city she, her husband and her two children were probably either killed in teh quake (unlikely) or destroyed in the Tsunami......  from the sounds of it no one, or not very many in their city survived and I am not ashamed to write I shed tears for my friend and her family. I hope I am wrong, but reality tells me they are probably gone.....

So, we at Niamh's Misty Meadow are personally affected by events a half world away. Snuffed from this earth were some of the kindest, most beautiful ppl I ever had the priviledge to know.  I truly pray they are okay but common sense tells me most likely not and I also pray if that is so that they have eternal peace.......

May God Bless Japan and her people..... we at Niamh's Misty Meadow are deeply saddened and are praying for them.  Please God, lay your healing hand upon them and give them strength to survive this and give us the wisdom, love and compassion and means to help them for they are our brothers and sisters and we love them.....
