Mets Merized Online:
Terry Collins might be in sort of a “Save My Job” mode these days as he continues to dumbfound the Mets masses with yet another logical conclusion, albeit a few months too late.
“Josh Satin, I just looked up some numbers this morning, he’s hitting .450 against left-handed pitching. He’s going to play against left-handed pitching,” Collins said.
“Starting Monday we’ve got three right-handers coming up with the Braves, I’ll get Ike back out there. Satin has earned a chance to play against lefties. So we’re going to play him.”
So it seems that in the end, Collins will finally proceed with this:

Well, so much for that fast start out of the second-half gate for the New York Mets.
That great ERA Jeremy Hefner was sporting going into the game? Not so much anymore. The Phillies nailed him for eight runs on ten hits. The carnage was accumulated over 63 pitches, 38 of them in the first inning.

The first inning and the Phillies have not been...
You have certainly read reports that the Mets would need to be “overwhelmed” to trade Bobby Parnell (who Detroit and Boston have interest in) but what you may not have read is that they need to be equally “overwhelmed” to trade the thirty five year old rental, Marlon Byrd.
Parnell is only 28 and looks to have shaped into a fairly reliable closer. He’s got two controlled...
Why do Met fans shake their fists and groan when Tom Glavine’s name is mentioned? What did he do to deserve an eternal banishment to the club’s dog-house? What happened to turn this 300-game winner into a target of scorn?
Tom Glavine signed a 4-year $42.5 million dollar deal with the New York Mets in 2003. He pitched for the team from 2003-2007.
In 2003, he went...
The New York Mets mascot, Mr. Met, appeared to give the cold shoulder to a woman looking to take a photo of him during the first inning of Sunday's game at Citi Field.
Mr. Met seemed more than happy to give high-fives to fans he passed along the walkway. However, when the woman tapped him on the shoulder from behind and asked for a picture, he simply shrugged and kept walking...
The Binghamton Mets matched a season-high with 15 hits and Jenrry Mejia struck out eight over six innings in a 10-2 victory over the New Britain Rock Cats on Saturday night at New Britain Stadium. Cesar Puello doubled twice and drove in three runs to lead a B-Mets offensive attack that saw every player collect at least one hit.
Mejia had a two-run cushion before he even threw his...
No self-respecting Phillies fan wants to be made a fool by someone in a Mets jersey. So, when one fan was put to the test Saturday, he didn’t look foolish — he looked awesome.
In the bottom of the first inning, Anthony Recker came up to the plate for New York, but his bat refused stay with in his hands. He took a hack, and his bat soared into the crowd. It bounced off the...
The renaissance season of Marlon Byrd is likely to finish where it started, as a member of the New York Mets. Despite the presumption that there may be considerable interest from contenders in the near future, the Mets are now telling inquiring teams that Byrd will not be traded unless they receive an offer they can't refuse.
Citing the importance of remaining competitive...
Justin Turner is likely to return to the Mets for the start of their series against the Braves on Monday, manager Terry Collins said Friday.
The #Mets are waiting to activate Turner from the DL so they can keep an extra reliever. That's turning out to be a really good decision.

Because New York had to use its relievers so much...

Whether he stays with the Mets for the duration of the season (perhaps maybe even beyond) or being part of deal to bring in some prospects, David Aardsma has once again become a valued commodity in the major leagues.
Aardsma put together another fine outing in the Mets’ 13-8 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night. While Jeremy Hefner struggled mightily on this night...
